Atelier Ventnor is run by Julie Hutchison. Julie started sewing at the age of 8 years old and has always been a creative spirit. She started exploring screen printing over 10 years ago and instantly fell in love with the process . At the time she wanted to print her own unique fabrics to make accessories. The difficulty she had was in exposing screens and in having the space to stretch out. Working late at night in the kitchen was the only time she had available to prepare screens, and with an increasing family, space was tight. A printing studio was a dream.
Atelier Ventnor is an open access screen printing studio which will be open for 3 days a week situated in Ventnor on the Isle of Wight. Equipped with exposure units, printing tables, squeegees and drying racks. We ask that you attend a short course to learn the basics as to how to use the equipment and then you can book space in the studio for the day or half day.
Julie is currently studying for a degree in textiles through the Open University for the Arts. She holds a PTLLS teaching qualification and enjoys running workshops, this is something Julie has had many years experience in training. These workshops look to teach screen printing, lino cut printing, sewing and many other skills. Workshops will be run 2 days a week.
Immersion of a creative activity nourishes the soul.
